Volunteering

I just signed up for my volunteer hours with SMART: Start Making a Reader Today.

I've posted two sites on the right that'll help people find places to volunteer, though I imagine many of you will have something in mind already, places where you've been meaning to, planning to, hoping to, etc.

There's obviously a bit of honor code to all this, so for tallying purposes, simply leave a comment when you've signed up, and add your "yes" to the poll on the right as well. One down, 9,999 to go.

Suggestions, Ideas, Comments, etc. can also be directed to onemillionhours@gmail.com

Here We Go!

UPDATE:  Please do send an email or leave a comment (simply click the number of comments linked below) when  you sign up to volunteer. I am working on making this more trackable so we can all watch the hours add up. I also allowed for anonymous comments now.  Still learning, after all! Thank you.

The Idea is Simple

Barack Obama is the President-elect of the United States. In honor of this amazing acheivement, and in celebration of his vision for America, I hope to gather 10,000 people to commit to two hours/week of community service, for 50 weeks of 2009, thereby aggregating  1 million hours of service in celebration of this accomplishment. I hope you'll join me.
